Donegal County Council’s ‘Connecting the Wild Atlantic Way’ Digital Marketing Conference was held on Thursday (25th September) in Solis Lough Eske Castle.

Organisers of the conference, Donegal County Council in association with Failte Ireland and Donegal Tourism Ltd were delighted by the turnout and response the conference received as over 180 attended in the hopes of gaining an insight into digital marketing activities and how the Wild Atlantic Way touring route can increase visitor numbers in Donegal.

The innovative conference got off to an interesting start as attendees and businesses discovered a range of simple cost effective online marketing tips that could be applied to businesses to ensure positive growth.

Crowds heard from an expert panel of speakers presented at the conference including representatives from Google, Facebook and two of Ireland’s leading digital agencies. Wolfgang Digital and Ambition Digital gave insightful and invaluable information on digital marketing and social media for businesses.

The conference also featured practical case studies from Donegal businesses in the tourism sector that feature the Wild Atlantic Way in their marketing campaigns with great success.

Speaking at the conference Donegal County Council’s Chief Executive Seamus Neely said “tourism is a hugely important to our economic growth and development in the county.  The Wild Atlantic Way is the perfect marketing tool to promote our fantastic county. This is reflected here today in the turnout of businesses who want to learn how to incorporate the Wild Atlantic Way into their marketing strategy to ensure lasting results for their tourism business. The information received here today is invaluable and we are keen to continue to work with businesses in the tourism sector to help increase visitor numbers to our county”.
